Emden | June 2023: Anker Schiffahrts-Gesellschaft mbH continues to be committed to Emden as a location and has had a new office building constructed at its company headquarters Am Flügeldeich (outer harbour) over the past two years. The official inauguration ceremony took place at the end of May and was attended not only by employees, customers and business partners, but also by well-known representatives from politics and industry.
After a planning and construction phase in line with the building project, the complex is ready for the commercial and industrial employees to move in. It has a total of 1,050 sqm on three floors. The ground floor and first floor offer 700 sqm of space for 240 commercial employees working in two shifts. The fit-out includes a spacious social room with kitchen, changing rooms as well as shower and toilet facilities. On the first floor, there are 25 office workplaces for the commercial staff on 350 sqm.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the new office building was held in September 2021. In July 2022, the topping-out ceremony took place and the building was approved by all authorities as scheduled on 30 April 2023.
In order to comply with the latest requirements of the German Building Energy Act, the following structural features were implemented in the new building:
- Installation of a photovoltaic system with an output of approx. 34 KWp on the roof.
- Generation of the heat required for the underfloor heating via an air-water heat pump
- Installation of a window system with triple glazing and isolation of the building with a U-value of 0.16 W/sqm x K
To further conserve/minimise resources, high-quality products were installed that will withstand the intended use for a long time.
The positive business development of Anker Schiffahrt and Anker Service in recent years was one of the main reasons for the new building. The Managing Director of Anker Schiffahrt, Jan Remmers, was therefore very pleased: "Due to the strong growth of the two Anker companies, our old building next door was almost bursting at the seams. With the move to the new premises just a few metres away, important conditions have now been created once again so that we can continue on this course with our committed employees in the future." In his speech, he thanked all those involved "for the smooth planning and construction period and the timely handover". Several East Frisian companies were also considered for the award of the construction work. The project was managed by Michael Adrians, owner of the engineering firm of the same name in Bremen.
"We are very proud to be able to accommodate our employees in modern and appropriate premises," said Constantin Conrad, CEO of the Leschaco Group (parent company of Anker Schiffahrts-Gesellschaft mbH) and Managing Director of Anker Schiffahrt. "Our new buildings will not only be a more pleasant place to work, but also an important contribution to the development of our location in the region."
The inauguration of the new office building is also the starting signal for the construction of a new two-storey social building. This will be built on the existing fundament of the old office building and will have a total usable floor space of 520 sqm, 260 sqm of which will serve as a development reserve for later use. Demolition work already started on 8 May. The planned groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 19 June and completion is planned for February 2024.
After the official part of the inauguration ceremony, the guests present were able to take a tour and get an impression of the new premises.
